Albert is a Professor of AI, Director of the Te Ipu o te Mahara AI Institute at the University of Waikato and Co-chair of the Artificial Intelligence Researchers Association (AIRA). His research focuses on Artificial Intelligence, Big Data Science, and Machine Learning for Data Streams. He is leading the TAIAO Environmental Data Science project and co-leading the open source project MOA Massive On-line Analysis. He is the co-author of a book on Machine Learning from Data Streams published at MIT Press.

Over the past decade, KL has led the design and delivery of cutting-edge data and AI solutions tailored to business needs. His work also involves advising organisations on strategic adoption of AI and on navigating the opportunities and challenges of the technology. As a recognised AI expert, KL is also dedicated to raising public understanding of AI and its potential through speaking engagements and educational initiatives.”

“Associate Professor Keegan is the co-director Māori of Te Ipu o Te Mahara Artificial Intelligence Institute at the University of Waikato and is the Associate Dean Māori for Te Wānanga Pūtaiao (Division of STEM) with postgraduate degrees in computer engineering and te reo Māori. His research focuses on traditional navigation, Māori language technologies, Indigenous language interfaces, and use of te reo in a technological environment. He developed the Microsoft Māori keyboard, Microsoft Office in Māori, Moodle in Māori, Google Web Search in Māori and the Māori macroniser. He is Chair of the Kāhui Māori, Science for Technological Innovation National Science Challenge. He has won the Prime Minister’s Supreme Prize for tertiary teaching.”

“Nick Lim is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow with a background in Statistical Learning (Machine Learning) and research focus on deep learning explainability and environmental data science. His professional journey includes prior experience as a Design Automation Engineer at a major semiconductor multinational corporation, where he honed his technical and problem-solving skills. Passionate about technology and education, he enjoys sharing knowledge and empowering others through teaching and mentorship.”

“Léa is pursuing a dual PhD between the University of Waikato and École Polytechnique in France, focusing on Quantum Machine Learning. With a strong background in quantum physics and research experience across New Zealand, France, and Malta, she is advancing methods to harness quantum computing for real-world data challenges.”
